Philosophy of our event

Our festival TANGODOURO claims for a perfect symbiosis between two elements that have been declared World Heritage by the UNESCO: Our dear TANGO and the central part of the Portuguese DOURO VALLEY (also known as “Alto Douro Vinhateiro”).

This way, we will spend four days immersed in the finest tango atmosphere surrounded by a wonderful landscape, undoubtedly one of the most spectacular of Europe, composed by the blue colour of the Douro river and the infinite tonalities that will show us in Autumn the impressive mountains that form its valley. Mountains where the vineyard is the most important element of their landscape.  Not for nothing this was the first wine region in the world with its own qualified appellation  of origin (Wines of Porto & Douro).

To achieve that perfect symbiosis mentioned above we will alternate our night milongas in the charming and historical Teatrinho da Régua (which has an excellent wooden floor), with our sunlight milongas, that will take place together with some other activities as a wonderful cruise through the Douro river, the visit to one of the most famous wine estates, or a great barbecue to the local portuguese style (“asado duriense”) in one of the most spectacular viewing-points of the whole region (Miradouro de Galafura).

Our great artists (musicians, dancers & Dj’s), will guarantee that the artistic level of our festival will be in line with its amazing geographical framework.

We have also selected three hotels (4, 3 and 2 stars, respectively) with special prices for our participants (we offer different kind of packs, for 3 or 2 nights, through this web page). In the same way, we will offer, in the predictably more demanded schedules, a service of bus transfer between the Porto International Airport and our hotels, placed all of them in the center of Peso da Régua, the tourist capital of Douro Valley.

Gender balance policy
Our festival, with the aim of a better enjoyment for all the participants, pretends to have a good gender balance among them. To get that objective, we propose that the possible difference between both genders does not exceed 10% of the total number of participants. In this sense, individual registrations will be accepted, for both genders, as long as that difference will not be overcome. In case this would happen, the registration for those participants of the majority gender until that moment will be interrupted, and we will open a waiting list for them.
