CUARTETO MULENGA (Buenos Aires)

www.cuartetomulenga.com.ar

The Cuarteto Mulenga, with its singer Maximiliano Agüero, is one of the most outstanding “dance formations” within the current panorama of Argentine tango. His style recalls that of the great orchestras of the golden age of the 40s and 50s, and adapts perfectly to the dancers, distributing their repertoire in successive and very well selected tango, milonga and waltz “tandas”. At the moment, aside from being recently declared an orchestra of “national cultural interest”, Cuarteto Mulenga is one of the favorite tango bands at the main milongas of Buenos Aires and other localities in Argentina.

This will be their second European tour, which will take them to multiple countries, among them – and for the first time on the occasion of our festival Tangodouro- also to Portugal.

Fernando Jorge and Alexandra Baldaque are, in addition to their successful work as organizers of international tango events (Porto International Tango Festival), two of the most recognized dancers and teachers of Argentine tango in Portugal.

Thus, we can speak about their management of the Lição de Tango school, located in Oporto, undoubtedly one of the first and most important places of reference regarding the teaching and diffusion of Argentine tango in Portugal.

In the same way, Fernando and Alexandra have a very important trajectory as dancers, having been Champions of Europe of “Tango de Salón” (2011), Champions of the Metropolitan Championship of Buenos Aires in the category of “Milonga” (2019), and several times finalists in this same championship , as well as in the World Championship of Argentine Tango. They have also been invited to participate in several of the most important international tango festivals worldwide.
